Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The silence of the Lambs; all have one thing in common, Ed Gein. His story is so gruesome and horrific that it’s no surprise Hollywood picked up on it. Gein grew up in a very abusive home, yet his mother was his world, he all but worshipped her. After her death he cordoned off the areas of the house that his mother had used most frequently, making the areas a shrine of sorts, Psycho anyone? Gein dug up bodies from the surrounding cemeteries and then progressed to killing two women. What he did with the bodies and how that correlates with the listed movies, well, you’re just going to have to listen to the episode……And, yes, Beth does feel very sorry for Gein, listen and you’ll know why.

Summerwind Mansion, also known as Lamont Mansion, was built in the early 1900s. It sat close to the West Bay Lake and began its days as a fishing lodge. In 1916 it was bought and renovated by Robert Patterson Lamont. The first account of the mansion being haunted happened shortly after Lamont and his family moved into the building. Since then there have been a series of owners, each with their own stories of hauntings. Shadow figures, spirit attachments, disembodied voices, cabinet doors and windows opening and closing by themselves….but the oddest phenomena was through blueprints and pictures it seemed as if space and time were distorted at Summerwind Mansion. Say what?

In 1957 Ed Gein was charged with the murders of Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and was sentenced to confinement in mental institutions. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Ed-Gein

You’ll have to use your imagination to see the grandeur that Summerwind Mansion was in the past. Photo by Fox Valley Ghost Hunters https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/wisconsin/ghost-tour-summerwind-wi/

Over time Summerwind became more and more dilapidated, perhaps this is what the spirits wanted all along? On June 19, 1988, the mansion burned to the ground. It was reported that the fire was caused by a lightning strike, but was it? https://paranormalmilwaukee.com/news/a-second-look-summerwind-mansion/

The mansion today is just ruins with a stone wall and two stone chimneys jutting up from the ground. Perhaps there are still spirits that linger around the ruins, but from this bright and sunny photo it looks like trees and undergrowth are the only inhabitants. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Summerwind_chimneys.jpg
