On November 17, 1978 four employees were working at Burger Chef, a fast-food chain, in Speedway, Indiana. Assistant Manager Jayne Friedt (20), Ruth Ellen Shelton (18), Daniel Davis (16), and Mark Flemmonds (16) were closing the restaurant. Sometime between 11pm and 12am the four, along with $581 from the safe vanished. Police did a cursory look inside the restaurant suspecting the four had run off with the money and were having a good time, silly teenagers, they’d be back soon enough. Only thing was, the four never came back, instead, two days later, their bodies were found by hikers in woods 20 miles away. Listen as Beth takes us through this terrible crime. But be ready to take notes, there are a lot of names involved and A LOT of twists and turns.
Bettina talks about a beautiful resort, with a name Beth can’t seem to wrap her mind around, The French Lick Hotel and Resort, on the outskirts of French Lick, Indiana. Built in 1845, this gorgeous hotel is the site of a lot of history and has housed many famous people over time. And today among the many guests that still flock to the resort, there have been reports of spirits who are not afraid to show themselves. Listen as Bettina shares the history and just some of the abundant reports of hauntings at the hotel. And the cocktail? Well you’ll have to listen to the end to see how that ties in with the beautiful French Lick Hotel and Resort.
