On November 2, 2016 Sherry Papini, 34, was no where to be seen when her husband, Keith, came home from work. What was even stranger was that Sherry had not picked their two children up from childcare. Sherry was considered a “super mom”, she would never just leave her children at the center, unless for some reason she couldn’t pick them up. That started the search for Sherry, volunteers, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, police, even the FBI were all searching for her. Until the early hours of November 24, 2016 when Sherry was found on Highway 5. Burned, beaten, bruised, branded, with one hand still attached to a chain around her waist, Sherry was a mess. But where had she been those three weeks in November? What had happened to her? And who were the two Hispanic women Sherry described to the Sheriff claiming that the two women were the ones who abducted her? Built in 1856 for the Thomas Whaley family the Whaley House was more than a family home. It was San Diego’s first commercial theater, a general store, the county courthouse, and….was and is HAUNTED. Before the house was built, the area was the site of the gallows. One of the men killed there, by hanging, was Yankee Jim, whose apparition has been seen and even photographed numerous times. But he’s not the only spirit in the house. Listen as Beth tells us about the paranormal activity in the house and who these additional spirits are.

Papini appeared in Federal Court on Apr 18 and pleaded guilty to making false statements and mail fraud, which, when combined, would carry penalties of 25 years. (But she will probably get a much lower sentence). Her sentence hearing is scheduled for July 11, 2022. The Whaley House, haunted then. Mr Whaley heard footsteps and strange noised starting a few days after the family moved in. He swore it was Yankee Jim.
