Audrey Marie Frazier was born on June 4, 1933, in Blue Mountain, Alabama. Always quite manipulative she usually got what she wanted, first from her parents, then her bosses and men in general. On May 8,1951 Audrey married Frank Hilley and they had two children, Mike and Carol. Audrey was a “spendaholic”, hiding bills and receipts, then asking for bank loans to pay off her credit cards without Frank’s knowledge. At work Audrey played power games with her co-workers, but when it came to her bosses, she was respectful and submissive. Guaranteeing great recommendations for her secretarial skills. Audrey had a good relationship with her son, Mike. But a very poor relationship with her daughter Carol, who just could not live up to Audrey’s expectations. Eventually her relationship with Frank also deteriorated. But he had a life insurance policy, so 24 years after they were married Audrey started to slowly work on getting that life insurance. Frank became sicker and sicker with no answers as to what was wrong with him. Frank died in the hospital in May 1975. Oh the people Audrey touched, and not in a good way. Not only was there Frank, but also Terry (Mike’s wife), Lucille (Audrey’s mother), Carol (Audrey’s daughter), and Carrie Hilley (Frank’s mother). Then there were the men she suckered into giving her money. Yes, she was finally arrested by police, but was able to escape from their custody, not once, but twice! Audrey Hilley would definitely make a great character for a Life Time Movie. To see what I mean, listen to the podcast and then let us know what you think.

The haunting that Beth covered this week will give you “chicken bumps”, Old Bryce Hospital or the Jemison Center. The hospital/asylum was built in 1939 and housed patients until 1977. The patients at the center were primarily African American and to say they were treated poorly is an understatement. Very little is actually documented about the Jemison Center. Was the history of the center hidden or lost? No-one really knows. Besides very few sources on line and an article written in the Tuscaloosa News in the early 70’s, research into the building must be done by piecing personal experiences together, which Beth did on this episode. To hear the the real experiences of people, first who describe the horrific conditions of the hospital while it was open. And then the experiences of people who have visited the dilapidated building is very creepy. Satanic marks on the walls, whispers, shadow figures, screams, the list goes on .
